Beliefs & Practices
Words are important and sometimes churches tend to throw around big ones; leaving us with more questions than answers. At One Church, we keep today’s culture in mind and communicate in ways everyone can understand.
It’s important for you to know that we’re regular people and we accept you no matter who you are or where you’ve been. Our essential belief is that God loves all people and desires to be in an intimate relationship with everyone.
God is revealed through the worship of his people. In every service there is an opportunity for everyone to experience communion, prayer, baptism, and to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Our Core Beliefs

We believe the meaning of life is to have a relationship with God, who created us and loves us.

We believe in one God, creator of all things, infinitely perfect, all-knowing, and eternally existing in three persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He died for our sins, rose from the dead, and will return again, as promised, to claim each of us who has a personal relationship with him.

Salvation is a free gift of God, the death of Christ on the cross is the only sufficient payment for our sins. This salvation is available for any who put their trust in Christ.

Scripture describes baptism as an act that is central to a person’s commitment to follow Jesus. Jesus himself was baptized by John “to fulfill all righteousness” (Mt 3:13-17). When giving instructions to the disciples regarding their mission, Jesus said, “…make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (Mt 28:19). After delivering the first sermon of The Church, Peter was asked by the audience, “What must we do?” His response demonstrates the importance of baptism when he says, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38). Baptism is practiced throughout the book of Acts, which is the book of the Bible that recounts the beginning of The Church.
We practice baptism by immersion at One Church. The word “baptize” is a Greek word meaning “to dip, dunk, submerge,” which was originally used to describe the act of submerging fabric in colored dye to change the color of a cloth. Through baptism, we identify with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Going under the water illustrates the death of our “old self” and coming up out of the water portrays the reality of our new life in Jesus. Romans 6:1-11
